Location: Laramie Rifle Range, 73 Rifle Range Rd. Located 3.8 miles north of Laramie, just off Roger Canyon Rd (N. 9thSt). We have a heated clubhouse with men & women restrooms.
Entries and Fees: Limited to 30 shooters, 3 relays of 10 shooters. Bring 1 new, unwrapped toy and a $5 bill to pay for targets. Please bring exact change. Spectators are welcome to watch from behind the firing line and must have eye and ear protection.
Firearms:
Rifle: Bring a semi-auto, military service rifle with iron sights. No optical or electronic sights are allowed. The course of fire matches the M-1 Garand (8 rds). You are limited to having 40 rds on you. Try to bring 5 clips/magazines of 8 rds for rifle and have a cartridge belt or pockets. This avoids having to reload magazines between stages. No specialized shooting coats allowed. Slings are allowed but no other shooting aids are permitted. Each firing point will have items to use as cover and rests. Rifle targets will be white IPSC paper targets. Zero rifles for 100 yards in advance as no sight-in period is allowed. No alibis are allowed for broken rifles or malfunctions. No picking up live ammo or a dropped magazine on the ground. Bring a small bag for picking up empty magazines and brass after shooting has ceased.
Course of Fire: Safeties on and unload / remove detachable magazines between each stage.
Stage 1 30 seconds, standing/off-hand, 2 shots, 4 reps
Stage 2 30 seconds, transition standing to kneeling, 2 shots, 4 reps
Stage 3 30 seconds, transition standing to sitting, 8 shots, 2 reps
Stage 4 30 seconds, transition standing to prone, 8 shots, 2 reps
Rifle stage ends when you fire 40thround or are out of ammo, where ever you are on the course.
Pistol: Bring a center-fire, semi-auto pistol with iron sights. No optical or electronic sights are allowed. Bring at least 3 magazines of any capacity but atotal maximum ammo load of 35 rounds. Load the first 2 magazines with 7 rds. Additional magazine/s can hold the remaining 21 rounds. No alibis are allowed for broken pistols or malfunctions. No picking up live ammo or a dropped magazine on the ground.
Course of Fire:
1 stage of 35 rounds with 5 firing points. Only 35 shots allowed.
Firing Point 1 7 must hit steel targets. Shooter cannot advance to next point until all 7 targets have been hit.
Firing Point 2 7 must hit steel targets. Shooter cannot advance to next point until all 7 targets have been hit.
Firing Point 3 7 shots maximum from 21 yds on IPSC paper target
Firing Point 4 7 shots maximum from 14 yds on IPSC paper target
Firing Point 5 7 shots maximum from 7 yds on IPSC paper target
Your pistol stage ends when you fire the 35thround,where ever you are on the course. Only the hits on the paper target count for score. There will be a reasonable time limit but this course is about accuracy, not speed. Misses on the steel targets reduce the hits and score on the paper target.
Safety: Don’t show up under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Eye and ear protection are required. Dress for the weather. Ensure both firearms are unloaded and cased/holstered when you arrive and when transporting to/from the firing lines. Bring your rifle in a soft case with a chamber flag. Have your pistol unloaded, magazine out, slide closed and hammer down in a strongside or chest holster until it is your turn to shoot. No shoulder or cross draw holsters are allowed. You do not have to carry your pistol during the Rifle stage. The Pistol stage will be on a different range. Have all rifle and pistol magazines loaded in advance and in a belt, vest or pocket. Don’t try to run fast as falling, letting a firearm hit the ground or losing control of the firearm will end your stage. Listen to and obey the Range Officers commands.
Scoring: Print your name on both paper targets and whether it is rifle or pistol. Targets will be collected after each relay and scored in the clubhouse.
Remember the Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen who fought this battle.
Be safe, have fun, shoot straight and make some kid’s Christmas a little better.
